Every athlete knows the feeling of chasing a stronger tomorrow — pushing limits, setting goals, and striving for growth. But when injury strikes, that vision can suddenly feel uncertain. Practices stop. Seasons pause. Identity feels shaken. And too often, young athletes are left to navigate the emotional toll of recovery alone.
STRAP — The Stronger Tomorrow Recovery Athletic Program — was created to change that.
STRAP is a peer-supported recovery and resilience program designed specifically for injured youth athletes. We believe recovery is not just about rebuilding muscle or regaining mobility — it’s about restoring confidence, protecting mental well-being, and rediscovering purpose. Injury may interrupt a season, but it should never define a future.
At the heart of STRAP is a commitment to Whole-Athlete Care. Healing is not purely physical. The mental and emotional weight of injury — frustration, isolation, anxiety, identity loss — deserves just as much attention as rehab exercises. By supporting the whole person, we help athletes return not only stronger in body, but steadier in mind and spirit.
We teach Resilience Through Adversity. Injury is a challenge, not an ending. Within every setback is an opportunity to build adaptability, courage, and perspective. Through guided conversations, shared stories, and structured support, athletes learn skills that extend far beyond sport — skills that shape leaders, teammates, and confident young adults.
STRAP is built on Connection & Community. No athlete should recover alone. We create safe spaces — both online and in person — where injured athletes can share their experiences openly and honestly. Through peer mentorship, they connect with others who have walked the same path, transforming isolation into understanding and doubt into hope.
Our work is grounded in Athlete-Led Advocacy. STRAP is guided by the voices of those who have lived the injury experience firsthand. Their stories inform our programs, shape our conversations, and drive meaningful change in how recovery is approached in schools and sports communities.
Most importantly, we champion Empowerment Beyond the Game. Performance is only one part of who an athlete is. Injury offers a powerful moment to explore identity, purpose, and self-worth beyond statistics and scoreboards. We help young athletes rediscover who they are — not just as competitors, but as individuals.
Through our five core pillars — Peer Mentorship, Mental Wellness Support, Community & Belonging, Education & Awareness, and Long-Term Growth — STRAP provides a structured yet compassionate pathway through recovery. We connect injured youth with mentors who understand. We provide tools to manage stress and uncertainty. We partner with schools, teams, and families to foster healthier recovery cultures. And we equip athletes with life skills that serve them long after they return to play.
At STRAP, we don’t just focus on getting athletes back in the game.
We focus on helping them rise stronger than before.
Because tomorrow isn’t just about returning —
it’s about becoming.
